The Trustworthy Leader: Leveraging the Power of Trust to Transform Your Organization
Amy Lyman, San Francisco: Jossey-Bass (2012)
One of the experiences that people have when they work in a great organization is a strong and consistent sense that their leaders and managers are interested in them as people, not just as employees. The quality of this experience is a significant distinguishing characteristic that moves people’s perception of their workplace from good to great. The personal relationship, the recognition that someone has a life outside of work that is important, and the ability to have a genuine conversation with people about the totality of their lives, are important ways in which Trustworthy Leaders create connections that bond them to their followers (p. 82).
