Go Suck a Lemon: Strategies for Improving Your Emotional Intelligence
Michael Cornwall, CreateSpace Independent Publishing, North Charleston, SC (2010)

You are embarking on a journey for life. This improvement you are about to make in your emotional intelligence isn’t something you can do for a while and then come back to later. Teaching your brain to work differently will take a lot of effort and a lot of time. Don’t beat yourself up when you fail. Use your new way of thinking to help adjust to your failures and move forward.

I can forgive myself when I fail. I am a work in progress.

I will not be perfect in my lifetime, so I am not even going to try anymore.

I am a combination of strengths and weaknesses.

I can live peacefully among others knowing that they may not live up to my expectations of them.

It will take the force of will to do that (p. 14).
