The following is a reminder to notice, appreciate and internalize your small wins contributed by the Ohio State University Leadership Center.
Reach: A New Strategy to Help You Step Outside Your Comfort Zone, Rise to the Challenge, and Build Confidence
Andy Molinsky, New York: Avery Publishing (2017)
“A critical mental tool to have in your arsenal for building resilience around acting outside your comfort zone is your power to notice: to appreciate and internalize what’s good and positive and fulfilling about this experience of acting outside your comfort zone, to remember that tinge of pride you felt the first time you did it, or to recall that drop in anxiety once you got into the flow of things. These positive experiences are sources of confidence for the next time around, and can be used to counteract the inevitable anxiety and dread you’ll experience. And what’s particularly powerful about these mini epiphanies, or ‘small wins,’ is that they come from you – they are your experiences (p. 218).”
